Coating
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat) Whole wheat breadcrumbs work well for a hearty crunch.
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese Adds flavor to the coating.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder For added flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning For an Italian flavor profile.
  • to taste Salt and pepper Season to your preference.
Main Ingredients
  • 2 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup marinara sauce Use your favorite marinara sauce.
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • For spraying Cooking spray or olive oil This helps achieve a crispy coating.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir until well mixed.
  3. Press each chicken breast into the breadcrumb mixture so that it adheres evenly.
  4. Spray both sides of the coated chicken with cooking spray or drizzle lightly with olive oil.
Cooking
  1. Place the chicken in the air fryer basket in a single layer and air fry for 10 minutes.
  2. Flip the chicken and cook for another 5 minutes until golden and cooked through.
  3. Spoon marinara sauce over each piece, then add shredded mozzarella on top.
  4. Return the chicken to the air fryer and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes just until the cheese is melted.
  5. Serve hot, enjoying the crispiness and melty cheese.

Notes

For best results, do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to ensure proper browning. Reheat leftovers in the air fryer for maximum crispiness.
