Ingredients

Patties Base
  • 2 cups broccoli florets Steamed until tender
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Cheddar or any preferred type
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs For texture
  • 1/4 cup flour For binding
  • 1 large egg To hold mixture together
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder For flavor
  • to taste Salt and pepper For seasoning
  • as needed Olive oil or cooking spray For frying

Method

Preparation
  1. Steam the broccoli until tender, checking that it pierces easily with a fork.
  2. Finely chop the steamed broccoli and allow it to cool.
  3. In a bowl, combine the chopped broccoli, shredded cheese, breadcrumbs, flour, egg, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix until well combined.
Cooking
  1. Shape the mixture into small, firm patties.
  2. Warm olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  3. Fry the patties for 3 to 4 minutes on each side until golden and set.
  4. Serve warm.

Notes

Ensure the broccoli is finely chopped to avoid lumpy patties. For best results, cool the mixture before shaping and resist the urge to flip too soon.
