Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon until combined.
- In a separate bowl, cream the softened butter with the brown and granulated sugars until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg, then mix in the vanilla extract and maple syrup until smooth.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- If using, fold in chopped nuts and/or chocolate chips.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet.
Baking
- Bake for 10–12 minutes until edges are golden and centers look soft.
- Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Keep stored in an airtight container at room temperature to maintain chewiness. For added texture, consider using a mix of nuts and chocolate chips.
