  • 1 cup chopped celery For added crunch.
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion Red onion or green onions work well.
  • 2 tablespoons fresh herbs (dill or parsley) Fresh herbs enhance the flavor.
For the Puffs
  • 1 sheet puff pastry Thawed if frozen.
  • 1 egg for egg wash Brush on tops before baking for a shiny finish.

Method

Prepare the Filling
  1. In a bowl, combine shredded chicken, mayonnaise, chopped celery, chopped onion, and fresh herbs. Mix well to create a creamy filling.
Assembling the Puffs
  1. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut it into squares.
  2. Spoon a portion of the chicken mixture onto the center of each square.
  3. Fold the pastry over the filling and seal the edges, making sure there are no openings.
  4. Brush the tops with egg wash for a golden finish.
Baking
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Place the puffs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  3. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown.
Serving
  1. Allow the puffs to cool slightly before serving. They are best warm and can be paired with a side salad or fresh veggies.

Notes

You can prepare the chicken salad filling a day in advance. Make a double batch of puffs and freeze them unbaked; bake directly from the freezer when needed. Experiment with different proteins or spices for variety.
