  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
Ganache
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 ounces chocolate, chopped

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a cake pan with flour.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt, whisking until well mixed.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the vegetable oil, water, vanilla extract, and vinegar until fully combined.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, mixing until you achieve a smooth batter.
  5. Transfer the batter into the prepared cake pan, smoothing it out evenly.
Baking
  1. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan before removing it.
Ganache Preparation
  1. Heat the heavy cream until just boiling, then pour it over the chopped chocolate and let it sit for a minute.
  2. Stir until smooth and glossy, then pour over the cooled cake.
