Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb large shrimp (peeled and deveined) Fresh or thawed frozen shrimp
  • 4 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen) Both fresh and frozen work well
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter (divided) Used for searing and the sauce
  • 1 tbsp olive oil For cooking
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced) Add at the end for best flavor
  • 0.25 cup chicken broth (or vegetable broth) For steaming the broccoli
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice (freshly squeezed) To finish the dish
  • 0.5 tsp paprika For seasoning the shrimp
  • 0.5 tsp red pepper flakes (optional) For a little heat
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning For flavoring
  • 1 pinch salt and pepper (to taste) Adjust according to personal preference

Method

Preparation
  1. Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels and season with paprika, Italian seasoning, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
Cooking
  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter over medium-high heat until melted and bubbling.
  2. Add shrimp in a single layer and sear for 1-2 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Transfer shrimp to a plate.
  3. In the same skillet, melt the remaining butter, add broccoli florets and broth, cover and steam for 3 minutes.
  4. Push the broccoli to one side, add minced garlic and red pepper flakes to the open space, and sauté for about 30 seconds.
  5. Return shrimp to the skillet, toss everything together to coat in the garlic butter sauce.
  6. Drizzle with lemon juice, taste, and adjust salt and pepper before serving.
