Preparation

  3. In a second bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined; do not overmix.
  5. Optional: Fold in chocolate chips, reserving a pinch for topping, if desired.
Baking
  1. Spread the batter into the prepared baking dish, smoothing it out into an even layer.
  2. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, checking at 20 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
Cooling and Serving
  1. Allow the brownies to cool in the dish before slicing for cleaner squares.
  2. Slice into small squares for serving, great with coffee or as a snack.
